Week 8
School:

Field Hockey
Submission:
This week the MND Varsity Field Hockey team won the Southwest Ohio Field Hockey League by going undefeated — for the second year in a row! (The coach did some digging and found out that since 2004 there has been no a team that has been undefeated in the league for 2 years in a row, except for the 2013 and 2014 MND varsity teams. 7-0 both years!)
They call themselves The Ohana and they truly are a family. These girls support each other and live by the motto that “Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind.” The friendships that have developed over the years is truly impressive. MND as a school stands with them by wearing Hawaiian “gear” to many of the games.
Although Field Hockey is not an OHSAA sport, it is competitive and a LOT of fun to watch.
Thursday, October 2nd was our girls’ Senior Night. We had quite a cheering section even though our volleyball team was playing against our rival school that same evening. So, what do our seniors do? They celebrated their own accomplishments with parents, grandparents and friends and then went to the volleyball game to cheer on their fellow Cougars. The MND Cougars in general, and Field Hockey Cougars in particular are a very special group of empowered young women. They thrive on the field/court/bowling alley as well as in the classroom. Help me shower them with accolades and praise…they are a very deserving group!
The Ohana lives on! Co Cougars!
