Single and Not Necessarily Looking, Chris Lane Talks “Girl Problems”

Right out of the box, Chris Lane is riding the wave of success with his lead single, “Fix,” from his debut album, sitting at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

“I am so excited, I can’t believe it,” Chris tells Nash Country Daily. “It’s so cool to see people showing up night after night and singing their hearts out. For me to be able to hold the microphone out and to let people sing, that’s a dream. I never imagined that. It’s so cool.”

What’s cool is that after riding high off the success of “Fix,” Chris is ready to release his debut album, Girl Problems, on Aug. 5. Noticing a common theme among his many songs on the album, Chris chose the title after careful thought.

Chris_Lane_Album_Girl_Problems“I started listening to the songs back and looking at the song titles,” says Chris. “I have one song that’s like my party anthem song, it’s called ‘Saturday Night,’ but the rest of the songs had a very similar theme, it was about all kinds of girl problems. I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to get some funny questions naming it this but it seems perfect. So I was inviting that in.”

Invitation accepted. I ask the obvious question: Are you currently having girl problems? “Luckily, well I shouldn’t say luckily, but I’m not having good girl problems, I’m not having bad girl problems, I guess I just have no girl problems,” Chris obliges. “I’m single and I’m not necessarily looking at this point. I’m just having fun on the road and really concentrating on my career. I worked so hard to get to this point I just want to keep it going.”

As for the next single that will “keep it going,” the Texas native is undecided. “We are gonna wait on ‘Fix’ to see what happens there, but I think it’s going to be a song called ‘For Her.’ Either that or a song called ‘Let Me Love You.'”

Either way, we have Girl no problems with Chris Lane.

GET TO KNOW CHRIS LANE

You have a twin brother, Cory, who’s older?
I am by one minute.

Is it true what they say about twins, you can feel the others pain or that you know what the other is thinking?
I don’t necessarily feel his pain, but yes, it is weird how much alike we think. We say the same thing at the same time all the time and that is really weird to me.

Your original love was baseball. What happened there?
Yeah, that was my first love, it’s what I grew up doing my entire life. That was my dream after college was to play professionally. My twin brother he got drafted to go play but decided not to do that. Me, I had too many knee surgeries that nobody was going to waste their money on me. At this point, as bummed out as I was after college that it didn’t work out, I am glad that it didn’t because I wouldn’t be doing this. The Lord always has a way of working things out for the best, that’s for sure.

Favorite Football Team?
Carolina Panthers. I am a diehard and I mean an embarrassingly diehard Carolina Panthers fan.

Were you devastated you lost the 2016 Superbowl?
I cried. I was that upset. I was very mad.

Favorite Basketball Team?
I don’t want to be the band wagon guy, but I love the [Golden State] Warriors because I’m a big fan of Steph [Curry]. He went to Davidson college right down the road from where I was going —UNC Charlotte. I had four years to see him play. And to see him doing so good —I root for the Warriors. I guess at heart I have to be a Charlotte Bobcats fan, but they’re not doing too good, nor have they ever been.

Favorite social media outlet – facebook/instagram/snapchat/twitter etc.?
At first it was Instagram and now I’m all about Snapchat. Last night I had—I think it was a squirrel and I couldn’t stop sending videos of this squirrel because it gave you a funny face and a funny voice at the same time. I was addicted, I couldn’t stop it.
