The Grand Ole Opry tallied its 4,937th consecutive Saturday night broadcast on Aug. 15 with a showcase featuring a pair of country musicâs biggest stars: Luke Bryan and Darius Rucker.
Darius performed a number of his fan-favorite tunes, as well as his brand-new single, âBeers and Sunshine.â
Penned by Darius, Ross Copperman, J.T. Harding and Josh Osborne, âBeers and Sunshineâ is Dariusâ first new music since his 2017 album, When Was the Last Time.
The light new tune features Darius crooning the crafty chorus: âBeers and sunshine / Bonfires and summertime / Back porch nights in South Carolina / Ainât nothing finer than me and my girl / Striking up a little lighter / âCause everybodyâs down in a world gone crazy / Donât know how to fix it but I think maybe / Turn on the good times, turn off the TV / Yeah, the only BS I need is beers and sunshine.â
âItâs certainly been a hard year so far with a lot of heaviness around us constantly,â say Darius. âLike it says in the song, I donât know how we fix any of these big, real issues that weâre facing, but while we work through this time I think itâs important that we find the silver lining where we can really enjoy the little moments and the simple joys of time spent together with friends and family.â
