Kane Brown Answers 12 Off-the-Wall Questions

If you have not heard of Kane Brown yet, get your head in the game. The 22-year-old singer from Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., has been making a name for himself in country music over the last year.

With his debut EP, Chapter 1, spawning songs like “Used to Love You Sober” and “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now,” Kane has shown he’s more than just a Youtube and Facebook star. His current single, “Thunder in the Rain,” the first from his upcoming album, is burning up the iTunes charts.

“It’s got a real drive to it,” Kane tells Nash Country Daily. “It’s about two unstoppable forces in a relationship. Nothing is going to come in between them. I feel like it’s just a fun song to drive to and roll your windows down and just jam out to.”

The Georgia native stopped by the Nash Country Daily studios for a chat, and we threw a couple of off-the-wall questions at the newcomer to get to know him a little bit better.

NCD: What’s the last picture you took on your iPhone?

Kane Brown: A selfie.

NCD: Have you ever been in a car accident?

KB: Yeah. My aunt . . . This is actually a funny story. I was like 9 years old and it was Thanksgiving and we were all going to my Mamaw’s house to eat. [My aunt] was on her phone, texting and driving. She pulled over into the grass, it’s like a five-lane highway. She pulled over into the grass, and I was like, “Tiffany,” and she realized she was in the grass. She ripped it back over. It was raining, so we started hydroplaning through the whole interstate. Luckily, there were no cars. There were no cars in sight. We ended up hitting in the ditch and we just knocked a sign over. I remember it clear as day. I was not hurt. I didn’t even feel it. But there was this big CD case—she had like 600 in this case, and it fell on my foot. I was huge into baseball and stuff, so the drama queen I am, I’m like, “Ow! My foot! My baseball career is over!” That’s what they’ve teased me with for the rest of my life.

NCD: What’s your perfect pizza?

KB: Pepperoni.

NCD: Who’s your hero?

KB: I’d say my mom. Actually, my mom and my Nana. My mom, just because she’s a single mother, and we went through a lot of hard times. She could of easily just got rid of me. Not like that, but you know what I mean, up for adoption or something. We even lived in a car for a while, and she fed me Cheerios and stuff. We got through hard times, so I’d say my mom. Then, my Nana for taking me in, when my mom couldn’t actually take care of me.

NCD: What would be one or two things that would surprise fans to know about you?

KB: I can never walk on the floor without socks on. I just always have socks on. I feel like it’s weird just touching the floor with my feet. And I can play medium on Guitar Hero with my feet. I got to where I could play almost everything on expert and then, I was like, “You know what, I’ve never seen anybody play with their feet before,” so I started playing with my feet.

NCD: What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep?

KB: I want to say, like three days. I used to be a game nerd.

NCD: What’s your favorite word?

KB: I say “gewd” a lot.

NCD: Is that like “good?”

KB: No, it’s like, just being a smart-ass. It’s like, “Oh, you are gewd.” If you’re bad at something. It’s like, “You are gewd.”

NCD:  If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

KB: I don’t know, probably just drag race or go mudding in the truck.

NCD: Is there a song that’s stuck in your head that you just can’t get out right now?

KB: “Thunder in the Rain.” No, I’m just kidding [laughing]. This is going to sound weird, but I like the song “Needed Me” by Rihanna. That’s probably one that’s stuck in my head right now.

NCD: Who’s your favorite football team?

KB: I’ve got two colleges, Georgia and Kansas State. My NFL team is the Carolina Panthers.

NCD: What’s your go-to karaoke song?

KB: “Getting You Home” by Chris Young.

NCD:  If you could eat only one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

KB: Pizza.
